Illustrations by Karl Simmons

Karl Simmons, artist and garden volunteer, has been inspired by the RCP
Medicinal Garden to create beautiful portraits of the species we grow.
This calendar features illustrations from Karl’s sketchbooks drawn through
the seasons. Karl notes down information about the plant and its uses
alongside the image, and the text becomes part of the artwork.

The garden itself can be visited throughout the year. Guided tours are
offered on the first Wednesday of each month between April and October,
free of charge and open to all. Email reception@rcp.ac.uk to book a place.
Groups of more than five people can book a guided tour by emailing
garden@rcp.ac.uk

Our guides are all physicians and members or fellows of the Royal College
of Physicians.
